We approach our land services as stewardship, creating landscapes that are functional and beautiful.
Cyrus Benoit, our founder, believes in a familiar, hands-on approach to all of our projects. Cy was born and raised on a farm in Pomfret, where today he keeps the ArborScape Inc. workshop. He has spent most of his life hiking, climbing, and riding (a snowboard or a mountain bike, depending on the season) through the woods of Pomfret and surrounding towns. Cy has always loved working the land and has been doing so since the age of 15. When Cy graduated from Woodstock Union High School in 1998, he decided to turn his love of working with the land into a profession. In 2002, Cy graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in Landscape Horticulture & Urban Forestry including a Minor in Forestry. His love of trees and climbing naturally led him onward to earning his certification as an ISA Arborist. These days, if his clients don’t see him on the ground they search the tree canopy. Cy now lives with his wife Piper and dog Suki, where they all enjoy getting outside as often as possible to take in views of the Green Mountains surrounding Pomfret, Vermont.
Chase Jenne has been with ArborScape Inc. since 2008. He is an expert tree feller, heavy equipment operator and trail builder.
Ted Bjorkman joined our team in 2014. He comes with many years of construction and land management experience.
Since 2002, ArborScape Inc. has been providing a diverse catalog of land management services to homeowners in Woodstock, Vermont and the surrounding region. These include tree removals, pruning, landscape construction, land clearing, trail building, excavation, and ongoing land management.
We take pride in our work and stand behind every job. We settle for nothing less than the highest quality workmanship for an honest and fair price. We aspire to create long-term working relationships with all of our clients.
When you hire ArborScape Inc., we endeavor to prove that we are the most reliable, honest, and hardworking company in our field. To live up to this mission, we aim to:
ArborScape Inc. is blessed to work in and around Woodstock, Vermont, an area with a long and storied history of conservation and land stewardship. It was in Woodstock in 1864 that George Perkins Marsh, responding to vast deforestation in the Green Mountain State and throughout New England, published one of the founding texts of the environmental movement, Man and Nature. Soon after, Frederick Billings bought the Marsh farm, and many others in the area, and pioneered in practice the conservation ethic that Marsh had similarly conceived.
Today, the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park “tells the story of conservation history and the evolving nature of land stewardship in America,” and is home to the oldest continually managed forest in the country.
It was also in Woodstock that the Vermont Land Trust was born. Formed as the Ottauquechee Regional Land Trust in 1977, a group of local residents pioneered the conservation of productive farm and forest lands. Today, the Vermont Land Trust remains a national model for land stewardship as a partnership between landowners, local communities, state and federal agencies.
Woodstock today is defined not only by the stewardship of the working and wild lands, but also by the trails upon which locals and visitors alike enjoy the lands. Our region’s trails are a cultural, historic, and, of course, a recreational resource, with over 30 miles worth connecting adjacent Mount Peg, Mount Tom, the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Park, and King Farm, all surrounding the village itself. And just a few miles to the North passes one of the nation’s longest and most famous footpaths, the Appalachian Trail, very near to where it spur’s off Vermont’s Long Trail system.
